Student Poetry: The Day You Left

by Anonymous
The day you left, the whole world wept
Roads were bare and the city slept
Rain sprinkled down from the dark sky
Thunder roared a loud, sad goodbye
The songbirds felt the same as me.
Morning glories did not open
The waves stood still in the ocean
Sunlight hid behind a curtain
The day you left.
Bitter wind blew through my long hair
Bees buzzed the words to the Lord’s prayer
Weeping willow trees cried for you
Their tears topped grass like morning dew
Dull hues have filtered the Earth since-
The day you left.
